Big W workers’ kind gesture has left a mum and her 2 sons touched by their generosity.
Jackie shared her experience in a Facebook group for mums that love Big W.
“My boys are 5 and 3 but they are also non verbal autistic with global developmental delay so flicking through the catalogue doesn’t really get us anywhere,” she explained.
Jackie’s eldest son took a liking to the Little Live Pets Gotta go Flamingo. Despite looking at other toys elsewhere, they kept returning to the flamingo toy that her son had fallen in love with.
Luckily, Jackie informed her sons prior to their visit to the store that they were only looking that day. Despite being disappointed, her son walked away from the flamingo.
A conversation with a stranger
Jackie and her son’s moved to another section of toys elsewhere in the store. She struck up a conversation with a helpful Big W employee in that section.
“We had started talking and I made mention of why we were there and why we don’t use the catalogue. I had made mention of how much my oldest loved the flamingo and also the fact that my youngest wasn’t really giving me any ideas however if all else fails we would find some more cars that he doesn’t already have(asd parents will know),” Jackie stated.
“[They] handed me a black bag which had the flamingo and a light up car and said that BIG W wished to gift them to us”
“I was completely overwhelmed and trying to hold back my tears….It was extremely kind and I certainly did not expect it! I actually didn’t even know BIG W did anything like it”
“It’s just me and my boys and some days can be really rough and this meant the absolute world to me”
