Mattel have brought out a gender-inclusive doll to invite all kids to get in on play-time.
While kids love to play, imagine and make-believe, sometimes they are in search of something more. Something they can relate to – be it a doll, a movie, a book. That’s why we at Mum Strife are loving Mattel’s decision to introduce a gender-neutral doll.
It definitely seems like the logical thing to do, seeing as we parents try to drill in that our kids need to embrace who they truly are. Love pink? Wear it, son! Want to play footy? Go for it, girl!
Embracing our kids’ gender identities is at the forefront of well-being. Having just one safe adult can be the difference a child needs to thrive.
Meet the doll that changes everything
Providing our kids with dolls that promote inclusive behaviour is a fun way of showing you’re a safe adult.
“Toys are a reflection of culture and as the world continues to celebrate the positive impact of inclusivity, we felt it was time to create a doll line free of labels,” said Kim Culmone, Senior Vice President of Mattel Fashion Doll Design.
“Through research, we heard that kids don’t want their toys dictated by gender norms. This line allows all kids to express themselves freely which is why it resonates so strongly with them. We’re hopeful Creatable World will encourage people to think more broadly about how all kids can benefit from doll play.”
With the help of experts, parents, physicians and kids, Mattel created these stand-out, unique dolls. There are 6 different doll kits available, each including 1 doll, 2 hairstyle options and many styling possibilities.
