If you’re a die hard Friends fan living in Melbourne, you need to do yourself a solid and get some tickets to the Friends the Musical Parody, stat!
The iconic and gorgeous Athenaeum Theatre in Melbourne is hosting the hilarious production, and with no real historical association with a ’90s New York, we were surprised that the building strangely added to the whole Friends vibe.
It also provided the quintessential photo op with the couch. Yep, THE couch. (Well a replica of course!). We’ve never seen so many excited selfies with a piece of furniture!
The show travelled through the most popular moments of all 10 seasons of the sitcom, with some very funny digs at facts, characters, and script writing. We also saw a large number of distinct props from our most beloved episodes that just added another witty layer to the show.
The cast were amazingly talented, and had clearly studied their Friends characters superbly. We saw many instantly recognisable nuances from all characters, which kept the audience cheering and in stitches all night! And without giving too much away, there were some cameos that had the entire theatre in hysterical fits of laughter and applause.
So what did we do once it was all over and we were back home? We put on our comfy PJ’s, got some snacks, and popped on episode 1 to re-live the nostalgia all over again.
Friends the musical parody is showing at the Athenaeum Theatre in Melbourne from 23 Nov to 17 Dec.
