A teenage entrepreneur has taken a stand against inequality by creating the world’s first deck of cards where the King and Queen are worth the same amount of points.
Maayan Segal is already paving the way for a fair and equal world, where gender equality is the norm. How has she started her movement? Meet Queeng.
Fun and games
Maayan’s journey began during a simple card-game between her and her father. It was then that Maayan questioned why the Queen is worth less than the King in a standard deck of cards.
Instead of shrugging off this question (come on, parents, you know we’ve all shrugged off a few thousand “why” questions), Maayan’s dad encouraged Maayan to turn her question into a project – more specifically, a business.
“When this whole project started he immediately helped with everything he could to make the idea into success” – Maayan
Queeng cards have rejigged the scoring system for what Maayan calls the Monarch cards. Kings and Queens are now worth the same amount of points. On top of this, there are now Duchesses, Dukes, Princesses and Princes!
Maayan describes Queeng cards in 4 simple words:
Improved, friendly, fair and equal
Only the beginning
Maayan’s mission has only just begun and what an incredible way to get started!
“My main goal is to spread the awareness to gender equality and to make it a topic that is relevant and talked about in every home. I hope that one day gender equity will be something that is obvious to everyone and we won’t have to force it into our daily lives.”
We have a feeling we will hear and see much more from this superstar in the future.
