The Brinks family have built their own private tiny house village and it is nothing short of incredible!
Bringing sustainability to a whole new level, the Brinks family have built their own tiny house village for both parents and their two teenagers to live in. Each family member has their own tiny home, with the family sharing a double bathroom building and a pool house.
Teenage daughter, Lennox Brinks told Bored Panda how much she loves her tiny house and the set-up her family has created.
“It’s absolutely amazing. I love living in a tiny house and am so glad my parents decided to move us into this arrangement. I lived in a regular house for the first 14 years of my life, but now that I have a taste of a tiny house, I love it. I think I’m going to have a regular house when I first go out into the world, but maybe when my kids grow up, I would come back to this type of living.” – Lennox Brinks
The privacy of having a separate tiny house has meant Lennox is able to entertain friends with greater ease. She also believes she has developed a greater sense of independence, which will help her adapt to college life later on.
“I love having my own space and being able to customize my house to my liking. Not to mention, if I stay up late at night or have friends over, I don’t have to worry about being quiet because my parents are across the yard. I think this arrangement has helped me become independent and has helped me ease into the college atmosphere because I am used to having my own space.” – Lennox Brinks
Lennox’s tiny house has a barn exterior, while inside boasts way more room than you’d expect. Her full-sized bed is upstairs, making room for her living area.
Everyone has their own space
The parents’ tiny house is the biggest, at 280 square feet. Their tiny house is also the most expensive, costing less than AU$14,000.
Their tiny home has everything you’d expect in any other house, just on a much smaller scale.
Each home has been styled to suit those occupying them make use of every last centimeter!
The son of the family, Brodey also has the ultimate teenage tiny home.
With a full-sized bed upstairs and a PlayStation cave downstairs, his tiny home is every teenager’s dream pad.
Shared living areas, too
The Brinks’ set-up doesn’t mean everyone is isolated to their own tiny home. In fact, they have a shared double bathroom building and a pool room.
The family have a communal fire-pit area, encouraging being outdoors – together.
Their pool room is the dream entertaining area.
And, they’ve even got a guest house!
The village comes complete with a double bathroom house to share.
A whole new level of sustainability
The Brinks have found that their lifestyle is much more sustainable. Their electricity usage has decreased and they grow much of their own food.
“We live more sustainably now in this system. We use much less energy, because when a house is not being used, there doesn’t need to be any heating or air conditioning used. Our electricity bill since moving has gone down drastically. We have a garden and produce a lot of the food we eat from our own hands, and we also compost almost all of our food, recycle, and produce much less waste. This was the most important aspect of this arrangement to my mom and was one of the reasons we decided to live with less.” – Lennox Brinks
All I can say is, where the heck can I sign up?!
